| 150 g | Unsalted butter | |
| 150 g | Sugar | |
| 3 | Eggs | |
| 100 ml | Milk | |
| 1 sachet | Baking powder | |
| 150 g | Salted butter caramel | |
| 60 g | Crunchy caramel pieces | |
| 1 pinch | Sea salt flakes |
Preparation
Step 1: Make the batter
Preheat the oven to 180 °C and butter a 22 cm cake pan. In a mixing bowl, whisk the melted butter with the sugar until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously.
Step 2: Combine the dry ingredients
Sift the flour with the baking powder and fold them into the mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix just enough to obtain a smooth, homogenous batter without overworking it.
Step 3: Bake the cake
Pour the batter into the buttered pan and smooth the surface with a spatula. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto a wire rack.
Step 4: Top with caramel
While the cake is still slightly warm, gently melt the salted butter caramel in a small saucepan over low heat. Pour it over the cake and spread it with a spatula over the whole surface and the edges.
Step 5: Decorate and serve
Sprinkle with crunchy caramel pieces and a pinch of sea salt flakes. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving. Slice into generous servings and enjoy with a coffee or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
💡 Tips & variations

- Pour the warm caramel over the still-warm cake for a shiny, even glaze.
